Claudia Volpato obtained her Masters and PhD in Human Physiology at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil (2000). During her PhD she worked for a year at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in the Gene Expression Program. Following this she moved to Monaco (Germany) into the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, in the group of Behavioral Genetics. Afterwards she spent a year at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC - WHO) in Lyon, France. She contributed to the founding of the Laboratory of Medical Genetics (LAGEM) in the Department of Internal Medicine at the S. Orsola University Clinic of Bologna in Italy. Claudia joined the Institute in 2003 and her main research interest is neurogenetics, complex diseases involving the endocrine system, DNA damage and isolated population studies.
