Philipp Rastner is a junior researcher at EURAC Institute for Applied Remote Sensing. He studied geography at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and Aberdeen (Scotland) with special focus on geoinformatics. His diploma thesis dealt with the visualisation of high resolution remote sensing data of the Hintereisferner and Kesselwandferner glaciers in the Ötztal valley - Tyrol.

Philipp Rastner works for EURAC since December 2006. He is currently processing EO Data and implementing GIS operations in order to further and develop and  implement semi-automatic classification procedures. In addition, he is organising the Institute's remote sensing Schoollabs.

Furthermore Philipp has extensive experience visualising GIS and remote sensing data where his main focus is the visualisation of glacier changes. Philipp is also involved in the local monitoring projects of glaciers in South Tyrol.
