The Institute for Renewable Energy offers

Internship in the field of solar cooling

within the framework of an ongoing monitoring project. The project aims at monitoring EURAC's energy plant, consisting in a combined heat, cooling and power system. The plant includes a large scale solar collector field, which is not only used for sanitary water production and heating in winter, but also for feeding an absorption chiller in order to produce cold water for air conditioning in summer (Solar Cooling).

Responsibilities

  • Adaptation of the control and monitoring system on site
  • Supervision of data acquisition
  • Analysis of monitored data
  • Simulation of the monitored plant with TRNSYS and/or other specialized software
  • Optimization of regulation and control system
    Optimization of system design

Requirements

  • Student in engineering and/or technical natural sciences (Bachelor, Dipl.-Ing.(FH) or Master)
  • Good knowledge of thermodynamics
  • Sound skills in MS Excel
  • Good knowledge of German or Italian, written  and spoken
  • Good knowledge of English, written and spoken

Period of the activities
Starting in August-September up to 4-12 months.

Technical and scientific assistance during the internship/ thesis as well as the opportunity to work in a constantly growing team of young people interacting with scientists at international level. Insights and work on the common programs, both in the field of solar cooling and heating (TRNSYS, SOLAC and TSOL). Financial support during the stay.
