Sourcing the Future of Leisure Third Leisure Futures Conference

1. Goal and main research questions
The goal of the conference is to evaluate the interrelations between leisure demand and offers in the leisure market with regard to relevant resources like time, money, natural and social or cultural resources. Methods to assess these interrelations, concepts to deal with these issues and possible answers for industries are of interest as well. Examples of research questions are:
1. 1. Which will be the needs for resources of the future development of leisure activities? Will these resources be available and how can and should they be made available? How is the development of leisure affected by the development and availability of resources?
2. 2. How can the interrelation between leisure needs and available resources be assessed? Which methods are applicable for which purposes?
3. 3. Which are the concepts of dealing with limited resources for leisure of industries, politics and society?
2. Analytical framework and areas of research
The conference is based on the above mentioned research questions and structured in four basic leisure time resources which represent the main fields of work. Time Natural resources Money Social resources The conference addresses not only academics but also practitioners and industry representatives. The fields of work are therefore related to all relevant leisure industries like, tourism, sports, cultural activities as well as industries related to resources like the financial sector, the real estate sector, etc. Consequently, the conference is structured in two main parts. The first part focuses on scientific questions and approaches; the second part pays attention to the industrial needs and their current answers and solutions.
3. Submission of paper concepts and important deadlines
We invite you to submit your paper concept for proposed full research paper presentations and work in progress reports at any time until August, 18th , 2006. The evaluation is based on a two stage peer reviewing process.
