Within the Khulna division small manufacturing enterprises, urban handcrafts and households are serious concerned by the frequent shortages of the electrical power supply. During the power cuts it is hard or impossible to continue the activities in production and services. At the moment the main possibility to overcome the power cuts is the operation of small fuel based power generators.

This production comes along with considerable noise emissions. The increasing fuel costs represent further an economical problem. The PRE Project will promote the use of renewable energy (RE) in order to bridge the energy shortages. The usage of photovoltaic energy with a suitable storage technology can ensure an energy supply in case of electrical blackouts. |

Therefore, it is helpful to implement technical and technological know-how in KHULNA Division by forming a cooperation network between local government, enterprises, industry bodies, academies, financing institutions and the European partners. The main tool for the implementation of solar Energy will be a practice and product-orientated training programme for the qualification of local solar trainers together with the representatives of at least 100 local SME's. Furthermore, a demonstration plant and a combined training workshop and information centre will be constructed locally in KHULNA City.

2. Workshop within the project in Bangladesh
The proposed solar centre and the demonstrations plant (planned is a 20 KWp photovoltaic system, divided into 3 different units) are a setup, which will be used for multiple purposes
• demonstration of energy production on the basis of RE,
• teaching and training of different target groups
• propagation of RE-related information during and after the end of the project.

3. Example of electricity grid
The transfer and implementation of the required knowledge and know-how on the mechanism of decentralised energy production based on photovoltaic solar modules to local SME's could help this group to construct and install own power generation system to continue their production without any inevitable delay during the regular power supply-off period.
The proposed project deals triple fundamental issues:
• decentralized Power generation based on RE,
• RE-related professional and technical Education and Training of SMEs
• protection of Environment through RE-based emission and noise free energy production.
