During the last years, South Tyrol has gained a leadership position in the utilisation of renewable energies in Italy. South Tyrolean enterprises have brought innovative technologies on the market. Being small-sized these enterprises must enhance research and development activities with focus on innovation in order to establish themselves on the local and international market. Therefore, the Business Innovation Centre (BIC) South Tyrol together with partners involved in economy, administration, research and trade fathered a Centre of Competence.

Project description
The aim of the project is the establishment of a Centre of Competence for Renewable Energy which will
- act as steering group
- promote and assist the cooperation of industry partners,
- assist development projects,
- initiate and carry out European projects in cooperation with local partners,
- organise local marketing and specialised events, and
- assist the establishment of trend-setting technologies in the field of renewable energy.
EURAC mainly focuses on the scientific support, determining the of state of the art, and building bridges to research facilities and programmes. Please refer to www.renertec.bz.it for more detailed information.
Project duration: 2004-2005 Subsequently, the centre should turn into a actual legal entity and ensure sustainable operation with the partners.
