READY PROJECT
Home  |  Research departments  |  Sustainable Development  |  Institute for Renewable Energy  |  Projects  |

The aim of the READY Project in Bolzano was the revitalization of the ALUMIX abandoned industrial site inciting the realization of a innovative research and trade centre; the role of the Institute for Renewable Energy  was the construction of solar energy model, with the intention to introduce this technology to the new science park at the ALUMIX site.

Since its renovation the EURAC building is strongly supported by solar energy; the active use of solar energy is based on an innovative solar heating and cooling system, considering these already existing structures our effort focuses, besides the construction of a demonstrative solar photovoltaic facility, also on the realization of a weather station equipped with research sensors able to collect the necessary environmental data for
the evaluation and the monitoring of all the solar energy, thermal and photovoltaic, systems present in the EURAC building.

The demonstrative photovoltaic facility is positioned on the roof over the EURAC café.

The PV system consisting of two arrays, of fifteen high efficiency modules (multicristalline silicon solar cells are the single elements of the modules) each, connected to the EURAC grid by means of two different inverters. Every array includes 2 kWp of Kyocera KC130GHT-2 modules, tilted by 25° relative to the z-axis.

The weather station, connected whit a suitable datalogger and equipped with a high performance research grade pyranometer (fully compliant with all ISO 9060 Secondary Standard Instrument performance criteria), suited for the measurement of incoming global solar radiation (305 to 2800 nm spectral range), with a reference silicon pyranometer, with wind direction and wind speed sensors and with a environmental temperature sensors, as well as the sensors placed on the PV

and the thermal system, assure all the necessary information to verify and monitor the performance of the systems.
