Conformity checking
Since 2005 EURAC, in its capacity as lead partner, along with REC (the Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe), has participated in a few calls for the proposal launched by the European Commission for the assignment of contracts for conformity checking of measures to be implemented by the European Union Member States for the transposition of environmental directives in their respective national legislations.
EURAC has won a few conformity checking contracts for Slovakia and Slovenia. As far as these countries are concerned, the Alpine Convention – IMA Coordination Unit, together with REC, is carrying out the checking of the proper transposition of a few directives, such as directives 2000/76 on waste incineration, 1980/68 on groundwater protection and 2000/69 on threshold values of benzine and carbon monoxide in the environment.
The conclusions of these analyses will be covered by the final report on the conformity of national rules and regulations with the EU directives, which will be then put forward to the EU Commission.
