bistro - Juridical Terminological Information System
bistro is a free-access online information system for the research, analysis and translation of terms and texts in Italian, German and Ladin legal and administrative language.
The system consists of: Data base: collecting some 50,000 terms pertaining to the Italian legal system (terms in Italian, German and Ladin) as well as the Austrian, Swiss and German federal systems (terms in German language). TerKom on BISTRO: allows access to the German-language terminology approved by the Terminology Commission on the comparative and linguistic basis of research work carried out by collaborators of the research department; Bilingual Corpus (CATEx): a collection of Italian-language legislative texts with the corresponding German translations. Trilingual Corpus (CLE): a collection of administrative documents in the Italian, German and Ladin languages. Annotation tool: an instrument that automatically connects the contents of a document or webpage loaded onto the bistro platform by the user to the bistro data base and thus allows to access existing possible translations; Term extraction tool: this makes it possible to automatically generate lists of term candidates from within webpages or documents, which can be used as points of departure for comparative terminology researches; Internet search tools: Gymn@zilla (online language exercises), search books by ISBN number, Key-words-in-Context (KWIC) for the search of fixed expressions and collocations.
