Impact
The project will provide on the one hand conceptual frameworks for the states concerned and on the other hand recommendations for the EU's policies on conflicts originating from ethnic tensions with a view to enable the EU to become a coherent, effective and visible player in the global security scene. This will also include a set of indicators for early warning and measures of conflict-prevention. Given the EU's ambitions to become a credible global player in conflict management, settlement and prevention, an approach of this kind drawing on a flexible, yet value-based institutional design and the relevant legal instruments for its implementation can provide much needed coherence for EU policy in this area and enhance the Union's capabilities to prevent conflict, as well as to offer viable policies in post-conflict or post-war situations.

MIRICO Project is funded under the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission
