What is EDAP about?
EDAP is a high standard online series of working papers. It has been founded at the cradle of the new enlarged European Union, namely on the 1st of May 2004, and hence marks the beginning of an increasing process of diversification within the European Union. The objective of EDAP is to contribute to the theoretical development and empirical exploration of various approaches to the growing reality of diversity embedded within the European Union. Diversity is hereby understood in a broad sense as encompassing the diversity of ethnic identities, of cultures, of regions, of values and identities, of institutions and structures within Europe. Regionalism, federalism, minority protection, multiculturalism and more generally, "constitutional flexibility", are therefore core topics that underpin EDAP's focus. In particular, we concentrate on diversity - especially but not exclusively - from the perspective of national constitutional law and EU law. Nevertheless, contributions from other disciplines such as political science and economics are also welcome.

Who stands behind EDAP?
EDAP is run by two research institutes situated at the European Academy in Bolzano, namely the Institute for Studies on Federalism and Regionalism and the Institute for Minority Rights. EURAC – a well established research institution active in five main research fields and occupying over 100 persons – is situated in the geographic environment of one of the worlds most well known examples of a successful accommodation of diversity in a regional context – that being South-Tyrol.
