• Junior researcher at the Department of Political Science (1968), Senior researcher (1975)
• Lecturer (1981), Associate Professor (1989), Professor at Leuven University 1995. Emeritus in 2005.
• Part-time Professor of Public Administration at Antwerp University (1986-2005)
