| | The results of the studies presented in this publication stress the importance of promoting the Alpine Region, also in relation to its scientific and naturalistic features. These universal values are to be recognized on the basis of its nomination for the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Meeting represented the best occasion to illustrate the first results of some important scientific studies carried out under Italian coordination during the last decade. In particular, some important projects are presented, such as ECALP. This project aimed at accurately assessing the ecopedological characteristics of the Alpine territory in order to obtain an updated soil information system. These data in turn allow to better face the growing concern about climate change and the conservation of wild species (Alpine flora and fauna), studied by Italy in the frame of the Alpine Convention. Finally, a study on the juridical tools needed for transnational cooperation, carried out by EURAC and the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta, shows how the management of transnational areas can be optimized from a legal point of view. |
