SHORT DESCRIPTION

The LISI indicators constitute a suitable tool for measuring the social inclusion of the   new   minorities   originating from immigration by identifying best practices and    shortcomings    existing    in    the legislation  and policies  of EU member states with respect to the integration of migrants.    They   constitute    a    useful instrument for  underpinning  areas   in which legal measures should be adopted by   the   political   bodies   in    order   to counteract discrimination and forms of exclusion. The LISI indicators also are a helpful framework   to   national   and international monitoring bodies and may serve as an instrument in the hands of migrant communities and their members to press for their rights and underpin their claims.
