Junior Researcher for Biodiversity Monitoring in South Tyrol (scientific dissemination and public relations)

The Eurac-Institute for Alpine Environment performs problem-oriented research on the conflicting priorities of ecology and economy in mountain regions. For the 2019 starting project "Biodiversity Monitoring South Tyrol" we invite applications for the position of a Junior Researcher in the field of scientific communication and dissemination. Besides a good knowledge of nature and biodiversity the ideal candidate has gained experience in scientific writing, organizing of public events such as citizen science and public relations.



  • Planning and organization of project related public events and citizen science projects
  • Public relations in accordance to the involved institutions and authorities
  • Preparation and maintenance of the project web appearance including web site and social media platforms
  • Writing of non-scientific articles in order to promote the project and to raise awareness for biodiversity issues
  • General support in the project management



  • Master degree in the fields of communication, biology and/or environmental sciences
  • Excellent writing and talking skills for science communication, experiences with web sites and social media
  • Very good German and English skills, good Italian skills are advantageous
  • Knowledge in biodiversity and flora and fauna, especially of butterflies is advantageous
  • Experiences in citizen science projects are advantageous
  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills to integrate a working group and to interact with associated researchers from various institutions and with stakeholders
  • Organization skills, ability to work efficiently and with creativity
