Researcher in Computer and Data Science for SW development

Eurac Research is an interdisciplinary research centre located in Bolzano, Italy. The Center for Sensing Solution (CSS) provides technological infrastructure (a Big Data Analytics Platform and a sensor laboratory) that can manage the entire data lifecycle and thus facilitate the process of digital transformation in several areas: environmental monitoring, intelligent agriculture, studies on the performance of materials and textiles and web atlases for sharing geographical data.

For implementing of solutions related with pilot cases under running projects, CSS is looking for a researcher in computer and data science for:



Development and deployment of web applications

  • Development and implementation of workflows and data management tools
  • Basic System Administration (Linux platform)
  • Writing of consistent software and code technical documentation
  • Contributing to write research proposals under supervision




  • Degree in computer science, informatics, geo-informatics or similar qualification
  • Strong Experience in Web applications development
  • Good knowledge in the programming languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, (C/C++ is a plus)
  • Good knowledge of Web Technologies: HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, HTML5, CSS, Node.js
  • Experience in geo-spatial data, web services and standards (OGC)
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux Operating System and shell scripting
  • Experience with databases, relational (e.g. PostgreSQL), NoSQL (e.g. InfluxDB, MongoDB) or graph-based (e.g. Neo4j)
  • Demonstrable experience on data / semantic modelling and vocabulary definition
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Autonomous working skills as well as ability to work in team
  • Very good English (Italian and/or German is desirable)



  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g Jenkins)
  • Knowledge of IoT ecosystems and platforms (FIWARE Ecosystem, FIWARE NGSI and Data Models)
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat and Apache Web Server is welcome
  • Solid knowledge of RDF, OWL, SPARQL, JSON-LD, JSON Schema, schema.org
