Eurac Research is looking for a

Senior Researcher in the field of high altitude medicine
 
The Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine aims to implement scientific projects in the field of mountain emergency and high altitude medicine, to publish results in scientific journals and to organize scientific meetings, workshops and congresses. This Institute, under the auspices of Eurac Research, are designing a new test facility which will enable the controlled simulation of extreme climatic conditions (temperature, humidity, wind, rain and snow) under high altitude conditions (hypo- and normobaric hypoxia up to 9000m altitude); - for both medical research and industry R&D purposes. The facility terraXcube is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.
The Institute works in close cooperation with the Medical University of Innsbruck/Austria, University of Padova/Italy, University of Varese/Italy, University of Girona/Spain, International Commission for Mountain Emergency Medicine ICAR MEDCOM, International Society of Mountain Medicine ISMM, Mountain rescue services, Health Services of South Tyrol and various scientific organizations. 
 
Tasks:
· Develop and manage own research projects in the terraXcube
· Administrative and scientific support for the Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine
· Analysis and elaboration of statistical data
· Writing and submission of scientific publications
· Participation in and organization of scientific meetings, workshops and congresses
· Application to EU/national project funding programs
 
Requirements:
 · PhD
· Experience with high altitude field studies as well as chamber studies
· Integrative research approach to high altitude physiology
· Expertise with measurement techniques of relevance for high altitude research (e.g., CO rebreathing)
· Very good English language skills (written and spoken)
· German and/or Italian skills (or willing to achieve proficiency)
· Good ability with MS Office programs
· Skills with statistical software desirable
· Experience in electronic searches of scientific literature
· Versatility, capability to work in a team and good organizational skills
 
We offer:
· Three year contract with possibility of extension (beginning January 2019)
· Full-time contract
· Salary will be defined according to study degree and experience
· Reimbursement of business trips expenses
· Special internal courses for research related skills
