Senior Researcher in the field of mountain emergency medicine/high altitude medicine and physiology “MEDSENS project” FESR/EFRE 2014-2020 of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen - Alto Adige/Südtirol CUP D56C18001370006

The Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine works in close collaboration with the National Health Service aiming to implement scientific projects in the field of mountain emergency and high altitude medicine. The predominant research objectives include: establishing international registries, performing randomized clinical trials and field studies, and developing international guidelines. Results are regularly published in scientific journals and presented at scientific meetings, workshops and congresses. Moreover, we promote and offer education and training in the field of mountain emergency medicine. The Institute is currently building a research facility to simulate emergency scenarios in extreme environmental conditions, such as: high altitude (hypo- and normobaric hypoxia up to 9000m altitude equivalent), extreme temperatures, wind, rain and snow. The facility is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2019.

The Institute collaborates with the Medical University of Innsbruck/Austria, University of Padova/Italy, University of Varese/Italy, University of Girona/Spain, International Commission for Mountain Emergency Medicine ICAR MEDCOM, International Society of Mountain Medicine ISMM, Mountain Rescue Services, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, and various other scientific organizations.

 

Tasks:

  • Execution of the technical project "MEDSENS project" FESR/EFRE 2014-2020 of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen - Alto Adige/Südtirol CUP D56C18001370006, which involves medical devices and sensor technology development; preparation of study protocols and application to the ethics committee, coordination and organisation (project management) of the project including experimental laboratory and field investigations
  • Collaboration in the technical development of sensor technologies
  • Analysis and elaboration of statistical data
  • Writing and submission of scientific publications
  • Participation in and organisation of scientific meetings and workshops

 

Requirements:

  • A degree in medicine (or qualified health care professional), physics, engineering, biology or sport sciences
  • Experience in medical/physiological research
  • Experience in emergency medicine, otorhinolaryngology or intensive care is desirable
  • PhD is desirable
  • Experience in managing EU funded projects is desirable
  • Experience in technical development of devices with human applications is desirable
  • Very good English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Italian and/or German language skills (written and spoken) desirable
  • Good ability with MS Office programs
  • Skills with statistical software desirable
  • Experience in electronic searches of scientific literature
  • Versatility, capability to work in a team and good organizational skills
  • Envisaged start date: as soon as possible (no later than Fall 2019)

 

We offer:

  • Two years contract with possibility of extension
  • Full-time contract
  • Salary will be defined according to study degree and experience
