Three biomedical data scientists


The Eurac Research Institute for Biomedicine is looking for three highly motivated biomedical data scientists to join our international team in Bolzano, Italy. The data scientists will work within the CHRIS-2D project, which was recently funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

 The CHRIS-2D project will be implemented within the Cooperative Health Research in South Tyrol (CHRIS) study, one of the largest longitudinal population-based studies in Italy, which investigates the health of >13,000 participants through a large set of clinical, genetic, and molecular data. By setting up a data portal that provides navigation through CHRIS data and samples in a secure and controlled way that protects participant's rights, the CHRIS-2D project aims at enhancing the quality, integration and usability of the datasets, boosting the potential for innovative scientific research and exploitation of the study.

 The successful candidates will work within a team of scientists to achieve the project's aim. This will involve curating, harmonizing, processing, analysing, transforming, and documenting data from a wide range of input sources, including questionnaires, electrocardiograms, digital data, genetic and metabolomics data, and information from electronic health records.​


Tasks:

  • Process and analyze large-scale biomedical data sets
  • Contribute to setting up and running data processing pipelines
  • Curate and validate data using summary statistics
  • Document and summarize data following FAIR data principles


Requirements:

  • M.Sc. degree or equivalent experience in a data science, e.g., computer science, statistics, or engineering
  • Practical experience in the analysis of complex biomedical data
  • Very good English language skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team
  • For some of the three positions, previous experience in epidemiology, signal processing, electrocardiographic data analysis, genomic or metabolomic data analysis is required
  • Knowledge of FAIR data principles is beneficial
