Eurac Research is looking for a
Trainee for a German/Italian into English translation project
Eurac Research is translating part of an e-learning course on health and safety at work into English. The source text is available in both Italian and German. The translation will be used to inform and train Eurac Research staff with limited knowledge of these languages.
We are looking for an English native speaker with very good competences in either Italian or German who would join our team to translate the text into English and do terminological research in the domain of workplace safety.
The translators and terminologists at the Institute for Applied Linguistics have extensive experience in the domain and will assist the trainee with expert advice. The internship is an occasion for hands-on training in translation and terminology methods and tools. Whenever relevant, the candidates will also have the possibility to participate in other activities of the institute and be fully integrated in our research environment.
Candidates are invited to come to Bolzano for six months. They should be in their last year of a Master’s course in Translation Studies or within one year from graduation at the beginning of the internship. Experience with CAT-tools and/or terminology management systems is preferable.
· translation of part of an e-learning course on health and safety at work from German or Italian into English (British variant) within CAT-tool
· work on related terminology within our terminological database
· participation in other activities of the institute
English native speaker
very good knowledge of either German or Italian (candidates with a knowledge of both languages will be considered preferentially)
enrolled in last year of Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in translation or degree obtained after June 2017
willing to move to Bolzano for 6 months starting from June 2018
· familiar with translation and terminology software (SDL Trados and SDL Multiterm), MS Office, Internet
possibility of using work for degree thesis in translation, if desired
paid internship according to the framework agreement with the local government
fully-equipped workplace available at the Institute for Applied Linguistics
supervision and coordination by senior researchers at the institute
