GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Where can I find the library?
The library is situated at viale Druso 1 in Bolzano, at the EURAC (map).
2. What kind of library is it?
The library is composed of the EURAC library and the ECO library. The EURAC library collects recent publications on the EURAC’s sections of specialisation. The ECO library is the largest library in South Tyrol specialising in ecology and environment.
3. What are the opening hours of the library?
The library’s opening hours are from Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm.
4. Who can use the library?
Everybody has access to the library. External users can consult the EURAC library’s stock in the reading room and borrow the ECO library’s items.
5. What can I do at the library?
You can search for items in the OPAC (catalogue), consult the stock in the reading room, borrow items from the ECO library, make photocopies, surf the internet, or use the work places of the library for your studies.

1. What items can I find at the library?
You can find both print media like books, journals and newspapers, and electronical media like CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs.
2. What newspapers are available at the library?
You can find local, national and international newspapers of the last two weeks and various weekly newspapers that are kept for six months. A complete list can be viewed here.
3. What journals are available at the library?
The library has at its disposal numerous journals that can all be searched for in the OPAC catalogue. Alphabetical and topical lists of the current journal are available.
4. How can I find out what are the most recent acquisitions?
You can restrict your search on specific topics or time here.
5. Can I suggest the acquisition of a certain book? How?
To recommend the acquisition of a book, you can fill out this form and send it to the library. The suggestions will be evaluated in accordance with the library’s acquisition policy.
SERVICES
1. What services does the library offer?
The library’s stock can be both consulted (EURAC library) and borrowed (ECO library). Moreover, the library has an information service, three internet computers, a copying machine, two OPAC computers for catalogue research in the reading room and numerous reading desks.
2. Are the services free of charges?
All the services are free of charges, except for the use of internet, of the printer and of the copying machine. You can check the scale of fees here (Italian - German)
3. Who can I turn to if I need help with a research?
The library staff is at your disposal at the information and loan point. Ask a librarian to get information.
4. Can I bring my own books or my computer to the library?
Yes, of course, you only need to indicate this to the library staff at the information and loan point.
5. Can I make photocopies?
It is possible to make black-and-white photocopies as far as permitted by statutory provisions (for personal use and maximum 15% of a volume). You can buy copy cards at the information point.
6. Can I scan documents?
At the moment, no public scanner is available at the library.
7. Can I print something?
You can print in black and white from the internet computers. This service is subject to fee (Italian - German).
8. Are there guided tours into the library?
The library offers, regularly or on appointment, guided tours of the library both for groups and individually. Anyone interested in the structure and services of the library can make an appointment.
REGISTRATION AND LOAN
1. How can I become a user of the library?
To register as a user of the library, you have to fill in a registration form (Italian - German) and to possess a valid identity card. A library card is then given to the user; it is needed for the loan of the library’s items.
2. Can minors also become users of the library?
Yes, minors (under the age of 18) need to fill in the respective registration form (Italian - German) that has to be signed by their legal guardians. They also need a valid identity card.
3. Why do I need the library card?
You need the library card for the loan of the ECO library’s items and the use of internet.
4. What items can I borrow?
You can only borrow items from the ECO library’s stock. The EURAC library’s items can only be consulted.
5. How can I select an item from the library?
You can choose what you need with a search in the OPAC catalogue, by looking directly at the items in the shelves of the reading room or by asking for help at the info and loan point.
6. How many items can I borrow contemporaneously?
You can borrow up to 10 items at the same time.
7. How long is the loan period?
The loan period is of 30 days; it can be extended two times if the item has not already been reserved by another user.
8. How can I extend the loan period?
If the item is not reserved by another user, you can extend its loan period before it expires via your online user account. You can also extend the loan period by telephone (0471 055066) or by e-mail (library@eurac.edu).
9. What happens if I do not bring back the items in due time?
If you return the items too late, overdue fines have to be paid (see scale of fees: Italian - German).
10. Can I reserve a book?
Via the OPAC, you can reserve a book that is borrowed at the moment. After its return, the book will be put aside for you for two weeks.
CATALOGUE
1. Does the library have a catalogue?
The library has a catalogue that can be consulted both at the two computers in the reading room and in internet.
2. Does the catalogue show if a book is borrowed at the moment?
The catalogue shows the status of each item. Therefore, it is possible to see if an item is available, borrowed (and until when), if it is being catalogued (in processing) or has been just ordered.
3. Can I reserve an item that is borrowed at the moment?
Via the OPAC, you can reserve a book that is borrowed at the moment. After its return, the book will be put aside for you for two weeks.
4. Can I also make researches in other library catalogues?
Via the MetaOPAC, you can consult also other South Tyrolean scientific library catalogues (Library of the Free University of Bolzano, etc.)
5. Does a journal catalogue exist?
The journals are in the OPAC like all other items. Moreover, lists of journals in pdf format can be consulted.
INTERNET
1. Can I use the internet?
The library has at its disposal three internet computers. To use this service subject to fees, you need to be a registered user of the library and accept the internet regulations (Italian - German).
2. Can I print something?
You can print in black and white from the internet computers. This service is subject to fee (Italian - German).
3. Can someone help me in the use of internet?
For the use of internet, you need to have the basic knowledge of it.
4. Can I use my own laptop?
You can use your own laptop in the rooms of the library. However, the use of the wireless network is reserved for the staff of the EURAC and members of the scientific network of South Tyrol.
