The Institute for Mummy Studies in Egypt for anthropological examinations

Our Bioarcheologist Alice Paladin was at Qubbet el-Hawa North, an archaeological site on the west bank of the Nile opposite Aswan in Egypt for doing anthropological examinations.

  • English

At this archaeological site she was studying human remains that date back to the end of the 6th Dynasty - around 2200 BC. The ancient owners of the tombs were representatives of the local elite.

The excavation campaign brings together experts from the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities in Aswan. The findings are now being presented in the Robbed, Ransacked, Rescued? exhibition at the Neues Museum in Berlin until the 10.03.2024.
