With 11 institutes in the fields of
Technologies, Eurac Research provides a research environment where students and disciplines can connect, and where emerging and established scientists can work and grow together.
PhD students who come to Eurac Research benefit from its excellent research infrastructure and top-notch scientific supervision. They also expand their horizons through interdisciplinary encounters and skills development via on-the-job training and in-house education courses.
While Eurac Research itself cannot award doctoral degrees, the centre has well-established contact with numerous universities in Italy and abroad—PhD students who come for research at Eurac Research must be enrolled in PhD programmes at one of these universities. In most cases, scientific supervision is shared between Eurac Research and the university. In the academic year 2016/2017, 47 PhD students
enrolled at one of the 23 partner universities in Italy, Austria and Germany work
at Eurac Research. The scholarships of some of these PhD students are generously supported by the Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse/Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio.
PhD students benefit from a wide range of training courses that build and hone their transversal skills. Organised by the department Education, these courses address methodological and research skills, leadership and project management, as well as personal communication skills, among ot
PhD students at Eurac Research also regularly meet to share ideas and learn from one another at an interdisciplinary PhD Roundtable.
