International Workshop on Memory, Migration, and Identity
In January, Anja Marcher presented parts of her PhD thesis during the international workshop in Graz on “Transnational Processes of Memory, Migration, and Identity in Europe and beyond” organized by the Council for European Studies’ Research Network on Transnational Memory and Identity in Europe and hosted by he Centre for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz. A broad range of researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds discussed and explored transnational memory and identity in the context of migration. Anja Marcher contributed with a presentation on “Migration stories, memories, and sense of belonging”, discussing the transformation of migrants’ identities and the influence of the local linguistic and cultural identities on their social inclusion and sense of belonging in the northern Italian province of Bolzano, South Tyrol.
