In times of fast processes of change, global upheavals and crises, resilience is becoming a concept of integration for scientific studies of different disciplines. The term describes the ability or the potential of systems to deal with shocks or unexpected, abrupt events. Besides the resistance to risks and the strengthening of protective factors, it encompasses also the concepts of adaptation and transformation, in order to emerge stronger from crisis and change. How does the discourse of resilience behave in respect to the discourse of sustainability? How is the relationship between the two concepts? Do they complement each other or is there a productive competition between them?
