Physical Anthropology Lab

The laboratory of Physical Anthropology is dedicated to the scientific study of skeletal and mummified human remains from archaeological sites dating to various historical periods.  It also serves as a temporary storage for samples during analysis.

Our research is focused on the study of the human past. Through osteological, paleopathological and musculoskeletal investigations, we aim to understand the physical characteristics of ancient and historical individuals, to determine their sex and age and their living and health conditions.

We work to protect biological heritage by providing technical support in the field or through collaborative projects. The laboratory offers graduate and undergraduate students the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in skeletal analysis and bio-archaeology.
