ABSTRACT

Quality management is an essential strategic factor of success in the public sector. Executives of local politics and government recognized the importance of customer orientation and therefore continue to implement quality management systems. Customer orientation and quality management are crucial factors in optimizing demand, supply and costs throughout the public sector. Two important models of quality management are EFQM (European Foundation of Quality Management) and CAF (Common Assessment Framework). Research focuses on the developments in self-assessment and on instruments of quality improvement but also on the application of CAF in concrete cases such as territorial offices of justice in Austria.
