The Course in technical writing and computer aided translation took place in 2008. It was supported by the Office for Linguistic Issues of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and by the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori di Forlì - SSLMIT) of Forlì (University of Bologna), and financed by the European Social Fund.
The educational activity included an obligatory module and two alternative modules, in order to give the participants the possibility to attend the workshop better corresponding to their needs, i.e.:
1) common obligatory module 'Specialised Communication': The role of special language texts within professional communication, introduction into terminology work, use of corpora and web resources for terminology and translation, terminology management systems;
2) alternative modules:
2a) Computer aided translation & localisation: introduction into computer aided translation and localisation, practical application;
2b) Technical and professional writing: introduction into technical writing, quality management systems and project management, legal drafting and use of plain language.
