A clear and consistent management of business knowledge is nowadays an essential prerequisite for the rationalisation and optimisation of all production, sales and communication processes within any business. It is particularly important in multilingual areas such as South Tyrol: businesses having close contacts with foreign markets should profit from the competitive advantage represented by their ideal geographic position and a natural multilingual competence.
The aim of the project is to assess to what extent efficient knowledge management strategies influence specific aspects such as documentation, technical drafting and translation within a business. The qualitative study will concentrate on the use and diffusion of specific knowledge management strategies and tools (terminology management systems, ontologies, etc.) in South Tyrolean businesses.
