|
During March 2009, the world's largest mummy exhibition (previously shown in Mannheim and Schloss Gottorf, Germany) will move to the North Italian town of Bolzano, the Iceman's home.
To mark this occasion, on March 19th-21st 2009, the EURAC-Institute for Mummies and the Iceman, is staging the first Bolzano Mummy Congress with "Mummies and Life Sciences" as main topic. The scientific programme will primarily focus on biomedical sciences applications in mummy studies.
During the last 12 months several researches concerning different fields: anthropology, palaeopathology, palaeobotanic, medicine, conservation techniques etc. have been united and re-established, while many other project possibilities are still in the offing.
For this reason the EURAC-Institute for Mummies and the Iceman will regularly organize a mummy conference, during which current research topics as for the Iceman and other mummies will be presented and discussed within a professional environment.
