European Topic Centres are high level expert consortia, which are contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to support them in their thematic work on Environmental Monitoring. The mission of the European Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, vulnerability and Adaptation (ETC/CCA) is to assist the EEA in informing the EU policy developments which are relevant for the area of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation (CCIVA) and disaster risk prevention across Europe, including assisting the EEA member countries.
Eurac Research is full member of ETC/CCA and will contribute with its expertise in Climate Risk Assessments. In 2021 the activities include the development of the EEA report on climate indices for Europe and the online atlas providing information on climate-related hazard indices, their applicability at European level in future climate change scenarios. Moreover, Eurac will be responsible, together with other ETC experts, for the further development and maintenance of Climate-ADAPT, the European Climate Adaptation Platform managed by EEA and the European Commission. The Platform aims to support European decision-makers in adapting to climate change by providing an overview of available data and information. In this regard, Eurac will focus on the topics of Disaster Risk Reduction and Ecosystem-Based Adaptation.
