Im Projekt MedSENS wird ein nicht-invasives Messinstrument zur exakten Erhebung der Vitalparameter Körpertemperatur, Sauerstoffsättigung und Pulsfrequenz für die Notfall- u. Intensivmedizin entwickelt.
Measurement of vital-signs is a fundamental task in the therapy of critically ill patients. Along with measurements like arterial blood pressure also continuous observation of heart rate, arterial oxygenation and core temperature is state of the art in emergency medicine and critical care in EMS and in the hospital. Gathering all this sensory data is necessary to detect changes during extrication, transport and treatment of patients early to intervene when required. At this time there exists no device which is able to combine all these measurements in a non-invasive way and robust to extreme climates. A piece of medical equipment with such capabilities would lead to more precise treatments of patients. In this project such a device will be developed in conjunction with local partners and its capabilities tested in the laboratory (terraXcube), as clinically (university hospitals), as well as in field studies.
