This is Dariush Ghasemi, holding a BSc in Statistics from University of Mazandaran and a MSc in Biostatistics from Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. My master thesis concerned to the classification of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 based on HbA1c levels via data mining techniques and Deep Neural Networks paradigm using >1 million EHRs of the general population in my hometown (Sary, Iran). Should you know more about it, look at my scholar profile.

I was so lucky that a couple of months passing from graduating my master program in September 2019, I was accepted in an Europe 2020 Horizon PhD program (TrainCKDis) at the department of Human Genetics at Leiden University Medical Center, Netherlands. Since February 2021 when I moved from Iran and started my new three-year journey as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD fellow in the department of Biostatistics & Epidemiology at the Institute for Biomedicine, I've been working on the data derived from a large population-based cohort study in South-Tyrol (CHRIS) to take one step forward in finding the causal variants for patients having the potential for chronic kidney disease.

We are now applying GWAS followed by Linkage Analysis, Mediation Analysis, and Mendelian Randomization approaches using various tools being used in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Genomics fields and environments (Linux bash/shell, Plink2, REGENIE, LDPred2, emeraLD, haplo.Stats, etc.), to analyze genome wide association (GWA) at the first step, and in the second one to pool SNP-array with whole exome sequencing (WES) data to reimpute the haplotypes using a local WES-based reference panel.
