Europe's changing climate hazards report

  • English

As extreme weather events and other climate hazards are increasing in frequency and severity across Europe, solid information is needed for assessing climate risks and planning for adaptation. Our researchers supported the European Environment Agency (EEA) in the development of a new interactive report which was published on the 17th of November 2021 and presented at the Annual Seminar of the Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre. The recording of the seminar is available online at this link (Hour 14:21).

The report gives an updated overview of how climate hazards are changing across Europe’s different regions. Climate hazards are grouped under 32 indices and presented in a highly visual way to help decision-makers understand the challenges they face and prepare for them. The online format allows to visualise through interactive maps the data for different European regions.

Further information on the underlying data sets, calculation methods and visualisations is available in this background document.
