The researching project "Agriculture 4.0 - Potentials and Prospects for South Tyrol's Farmers & Mechanical Engineers" investigates technological and logistical solutions for the steep slope use in mountain areas in order to make the production of small-scale agriculture in South Tyrol safer and more efficient. Based on the experiences of chosen managers and the expert assessment of various specialist associations, a potential analysis for selectively chosen production types depicts the need of technologizing. On this documentation of the currently emerging technological possibilities for mechanization, technical adaptation, automation, or digitization, the agricultural actors and experts will decide which innovative technologies and digitization approaches are relevant for South Tyrol and the mountain regions. Practically, South Tyrol can rely on its small, but innovative representatives of mechanical engineers in agriculture. With innovative technology solutions for steep-slope machines, extended sales markets could open up for them across the whole range of the European mountain areas.
