Short description of the position:&nbsp;
The Institute for Renewable Energy performs applied research on advanced energy systems, based on or including sustainable energy sources. Its activities include national and international research projects, as well as direct cooperation with industry partners.&nbsp;
We are looking for a RTD project assistant, supporting the scientific coordinator in organizational, administrative, and financial issues, as well as taking care of relationships with project partners and EC officers if needed.&nbsp;
The job implies daily work with research groups, interaction with Eurac service departments and partners&rsquo; administration, as well as monitoring of project activities and participation in project and EC meetings.
&nbsp;
Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Organizational, administrative and financial management of publicly funded projects (FESR-EFRE; Interreg ITA-AUT; Interreg ITA-CH; H2020; Horizon Europe; COST; LIFE etc)</li>
<li>Periodically accounting and reporting of RTD project activities and relative expenditures (personnel, investments, consumables, etc.)&nbsp;</li>
<li>Being the contact person for the European Commission officers and project partners</li>
<li>Monitoring of project deliverables/milestones achievement</li>
<li>Supervision of dissemination and exploitation activities</li>

Requirements:

<li>Master degree in political science or economics, or documented equivalent professional experience;</li>

The UNESCO Chair in Interdisciplinary Anticipation and Global-Local Transformation, located at the Center for Advanced Studies of Eurac Research, is now accepting applications for a research position. According to the preferences of the applicant, the position may be full or half time, and can also be further adapted to her or his needs.
The researcher will be a member of the UNESCO Chair team. The work is interdisciplinary in nature, as it is UNESCO&rsquo;s mission. It covers the full range of the future topics of humanity, with a focus on global issues and glocalization, i.e. the relationship of global developments with local needs and perspectives. The research will be related to the <a href="https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000375755_eng" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UNESCO global priorities drafted in its current 2022-2029 strategy.</a> Among these priorities is UNESCO Futures Literacy, which is the skill that allows people to better understand the role of the future in the present. In this framework, the person chosen will be enabled to apply, strengthen and develop her/his own specific competencies and specializations, linking personal experiences and expertise with the Chair&rsquo;s and the Center&rsquo;s priorities.

As part of the team, the researcher at the UNESCO Chair will:

The position is open within the Center for Climate Change and Transformation, a new interdisciplinary platform created in Eurac Research to bring together the expertise and experience of all the institutes that are working on climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies at all levels and in many geographical areas of the world.&nbsp;
​​The successful candidate will perform research activities within the field of advanced statistical modelling for scenario generation of climate-related hazards supporting risk mitigation and adaptation at multiple scales within the framework of the Italian PNRR Project RETURN. RETURN (multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate) is a 3-year project funded by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) with the aim of better managing the increasing systemic and interconnected environmental, natural and anthropogenic risks. The project fosters the resilient and sustainable development of Italian most complex and vulnerable areas with a holistic and interdisciplinary approach. &nbsp;&nbsp; ​Within the project, Eurac Research is responsible for carrying out activities on climate-related hazard assessment and scenario generation supporting risk mitigation and adaptation for Italian regions. More specifically, EURAC researchers, in cooperation with project partners, will perform an indicator-based assessment of past and current climate hazards for multiple sectors and will develop novel hybrid models for the generation of hazard indicator scenarios by combining process-based and data-driven methods. Machine learning and deep learning schemes will be also exploited in order to downscale and bias adjust state-of-the-art forecasts and scenarios at the scales required by end-user applications and impact studies. &nbsp; 
Tasks
​​It is expected that the candidate will support the implementation of research activities within the &ldquo;Spoke&rdquo; DS of project RETURN. The activities comprise the following topics and activities: &nbsp;
<ul>
<li>hybrid and statistical modelling for the generation of multi-scale scenarios of climate-related hazards and uncertainty assessment</li>
<li>advanced statistical schemes for downscaling forecasts and projections</li>
<li>multi-scale climate-related hazard assessment for risk and impact studies in Italian regions and for multiple sectors</li>
<li>writing of project reports and scientific publications</li>
<li>dissemination of project&acute;s results in seminars, meetings and conferences</li>
<li>coordination within the project&acute;s EURAC team and the other partners in the RETURN consortium, tasks coordination and implementation of reporting duties.​&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>Master&rsquo;s degree in the field of atmospheric and environmental sciences (e.g., Physics, Environmental engineering, Environmental sciences) or a comparable course of study with a solid background in statistics and data processing</li>
<li>Experience in simulating and understanding weather and climate-related processes through data-driven models, including machine learning techniques</li>
<li>Knowledge of post-processing techniques for climate and weather model simulations, including downscaling</li>
<li>Experience in manipulating large data volumes and multi-dimensional data (e.g., in netCDF format)</li>
<li>High proficiency in high-level scripting languages (e.g., Python, R)&nbsp;</li>
<li>High proficiency in written and spoken English. Good command of Italian is a plus.</li>
<li>Experience/Interest in writing peer-reviewed papers</li>
<li>Proactive, independent approach to achieve personal and collective objectives and positive team player​&nbsp;</li>

Short description of the position&gt;
We are looking for a highly motivated Master Student in Electrical Engineering or other relevant fields with strong programming skills to join our team. The successful candidate will be asked to: i) implement new hardware components into an in-house developed indoor environmental quality (IEQ) monitoring device, ii) develop procedures for testing and validation of these components, ensuring the system is functional and reliable for use in projects, and iii) support in monitoring campaigns in national and international projects such as BREATH (<a href="https://www.eurac.edu/en/institutes-centers/institute-for-renewable-energy/projects/breath" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.eurac.edu/en/institutes-centers/institute-for-renewable-energy/projects/breath</a>) and MEZeroE (<a href="https://www.eurac.edu/en/institutes-centers/institute-for-renewable-energy/projects/mezeroe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.eurac.edu/en/institutes-centers/institute-for-renewable-energy/projects/mezeroe</a>).

<li>Experience with Arduino and its programming environment</li>
