About

I am an International Relations analyst and my main areas of research are multilevel migration governance and regionalism with a particular focus on South America. I did my PhD, Masters and BA in Political Science/International Relations in my hometown Buenos Aires, where I was affiliated to the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) of Argentina as a doctoral research fellow. When I was in Buenos Aires, I taught courses of International Relations, Regional Integration and International Organizations as a Lecturer for eight years. Then, before joining Eurac I was a Research Fellow at the Migration Policy Centre of the European University Institute, where I worked on EU-funded projects on migration and asylum governance at the regional, national and global levels.

Here at Eurac I am working on my project ‘Policy Implementation in Global South Regionalism: Multilevel Migration Governance in South America (POLIM)’, funded by the mobility programme of the Province of Bolzano/Bozen, and I study the implementation of the policies that liberalise the movement of persons in Argentina and Brazil, two large federal states.

I am also actively involved in exchanges with policymakers and I regularly attend meetings with the ministries of several South American countries, with some International Organizations and with the European Commission. As part of this involvement, I have been a consultant for the Mercosur and for the International Organization for Migration (IOM). I frequently write blog posts and Op-Eds for some of the main Latin American newspapers including Clarín and Folha di Sao Paulo. I am the coauthor of ‘Migration and Mobility in the European Union’ (Palgrave, 2020) (with Andrew Geddes and Leila Hadj Abdou), the co-editor of 'The Dynamics of Regional Migration Governance (Edward Elgar, 2019) (with Andrew Geddes, Marcia Vera Espinoza and Leila Hadj Abdou) and I am currently working on a book on the Freedom of Movement in South America (Routledge, forthcoming).
