Il comune di Merano ha aderito al Patto dei Sindaci per il Clima e l'Energia in agosto 2012, impegnandosi volontariamente per la tutela del clima e l’adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici e ha elaborato il Piano per l’Energia Sostenibile (SEAP) nel 2013. L’obiettivo del progetto consiste nell’ assistere il comune di Merano nell’elaborazione della revisione e amplificazione del SEAP (Sustainable Energy Action Plan) per arrivare a un SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan). Eurac Research completa le parti mancanti del rapporto sull’adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici, i quali riguardano l’analisi dei rischi e delle debolezze, nonché le misure per l’adattamento.
