Besides support activities and scientific consultancy for private or public institutions, EURAC Researchers developed also a range of tools, from open source simulation software to full detailed databases. These tools, all developed within main European research projects, are freely available online for designers, architects, technicians and all those who wish to deepen their knowledge in the world of renewable energy sources..

Hotmaps is a GIS-based online software that supports authorities and energy planners to set up a strategic heating and cooling plan for their region.

Freely accessible, geo-referenced solar potential data base, which allows private users and public bodies to estimate the solar potential on a roof level. The solar cadaster has been developed by EURAC within the project Solar Tirol and is available for the geographic areas of Tirol and South Tirol.

Developed within the CommONEnergy project, TypeDLT is a TRNSYS component that enables climate-based daylighting simulations with RADIANCE. It allows to analyse the effects of Complex Fenestration Systems and it gives the opportunity to develop custom control strategies for dynamic shading devices. The code with the documentation and an example file are stored in the GitHub repository.

This ADD-ON of GRASS, developed within the recharge.green project, is an open-source GIS software that offers support to the evaluation and mapping of potential sites for renewable energy exploitation taking into account financial, social, planning and territorial features. A dataset to run the modules is also available.

Within the EU FP7 project iNSPIRE, EURAC researchers collected data and simulation results before and after energy retrofitting solutions. All this data and results about the energy consumption of multifamily houses all around Europe are now available for free on the project website.
