Center for Advanced Studies’ head Harald Pechlaner participated together with Anja Marcher and Daria Habicher at the symposium “De-Lokalisierung” in Vienna, led by the “task force: Cultural Dynamics” (German: “ARGE Kulturelle Dynamiken”) of the Austrian Research Association (ÖFG – Österreichischen Forschungsgemeinschaft). It lasted two days (24-25 January 2019) and was the sixth symposium of several events organized by the interdisciplinary task force. This years’ main topic was de-localization, where different topics, such as identity, transnationality, Brexit, and Heimat, have been discussed related to the phenomenon. Prof. Dr. Harald Pechlaner and Anja Marcher contributed with a speech about “Tourism and mobility: problems and perspectives of de-localization”. One very special feature of the event was its multidisciplinarity. Speakers from disciplines such as philosophy, cultural studies, ethnography, linguistics, fine art, tourism studies, and geography were involved in the discussions, creating interesting synergies.
