1st Bolzano Mummy Congress - Mummies and Life Sciences

In March 2009 the world's largest mummy exhibition was on display in Bolzano, where the mummy of the Iceman is preserved. To mark the occasion, the EURAC Institute for Mummies and the Iceman organised the first Bolzano Mummy Congress, entitled "Mummies and Life Sciences". The scientific program was focused primarily on biomedical science applications in mummy studies. Topics presented by the international group of researchers included ancient DNA, biomedical and biochemical studies, mummy conservation, paleobotanics, paleopathology, mummification methods and paleonutrition.
