This research line looks into the governance of actions which address climate change by using a multi-level, cross-sectoral and systemic perspective. It considers how the organizational structure of formal actors such as governments interact with informal actors such as communities, and how politics shapes their capacity to act. By providing insights into how traditional forms of governance support the uptake of new practices or community initiatives influence formal modes of governance , we seek to evaluate how socio-ecological transformations occur and evolve. The investigation of multi-level and cross-sector governance of climate change provides specific insights into which political, institutional and legal conditions effectively support climate action and how this can be mainstreamed in different policy areas.
