Climate change is increasingly affecting the social and ecological systems we depend upon and threatening the lives and livelihoods of billions of people. Climate adaptation and mitigation measures are important, yet a society-wide transformation is needed to prevent the current crisis from turning into a catastrophe. This calls for a profound change in our socio-cultural habits: the way we live, work, move around, produce, and consume and for this, new economic pathways and transformative research are key.

At the Centre for Climate Change and Transformation scientists from several Eurac Research Institutes and Centers are working together in an inter and trans-disciplinary way to study how climate change impacts Earth’s ecological and social systems and to better understand the cause-effect relationships which lead to key risks. At the CCT, we identify obstacles, gaps as well as opportunities in policy and decision-making processes so we can identify transformative action and effective and inclusive governance measures. We develop both technical and non-technical solutions, contribute to promoting a carbon-neutral and resilient society as well as encouraging community participation in climate action.

We work with the research community, public authorities, private sectors and civil organizations at all administrative levels.
