Two important prizes were awarded again this year by the Euregio: the Young Researcher Award and the Innovation Award. In Alpbach the three presidents, Günther Platter of Tyrol, Arno Kompatscher of South Tyrol and Maurizio Fugatti of Trentino, congratulated the winners and thanked them for their commitment. The aim of the initiative is to create a platform for the development of new ideas and green technologies.

Euregio Young Researcher Award 2021

The Euregio Young Researcher Award is intended for young researchers under 35 working on the theme "Europe's Green Transition - The Climate Opportunity" in the following fields of study: economics, political and social sciences, natural sciences, agricultural and engineering sciences, law and humanities.

Our researcher Matteo Giacomo Prina was awarded the second prize for his presentation on "Renewable energy high penetration scenarios using bottom-up modelling".

Euregio Innovation Award 2021

The best product, process or service innovation with the theme 'Sustainable Energy Solutions for the Alpine Region' was identified: This year's award went to Paolo Baldracchi (Rovereto, SynpapsEES srl) with his project 'UV-it - Saving energy by continuously sanitising indoor air'. The UV-it project developed, tested and engineered a hardware and software solution for the continuous air sanitisation of ventilation and air conditioning systems using only primary air and, if it is not possible to stop recirculation, forcing the system to be switched off.

Paolo Baldracchi worked in Eurac within our Institute for several years and is now with the start up SynapsEES together with another colleague of us Pietro Zambelli. Congratulations to Matteo, Paolo and Pietro!
