Eurac Research is partner of two new JPI Urban Europe projects starting this and the following month, focusing on the increased implementation of Positive Energy Districts.

Project KINETIC, involving nine partners and three demo sites (Italy, Romania, Denmark), aims at overcoming the existing challenges for PED transformation at the neighbourhood level (integrated vision, green premium gap, low level of awareness). The innovative aspect of KINETIC is empowering the local communities as actors of change, creating an informal network of Local Energy Communities committed to becoming an integral part of PEDs.

In the PROPEL project, positive energy districts are developed further by expanding the energy system of PEDs, including transport means, and adding bio-based energy carriers from the food system.
