Addressing the Discriminatory Effects of the EU Geo-blocking Regulation on Minority Groups
The EU Geo-blocking Regulation (EU) was designed to foster fairness and non-discrimination in the digital single market. However, despite its aims, the Regulation discriminates against specific minority groups, in particular linguistic and cultural minorities and residents of border regions. MIDAS has participated in the initiative launched by the European Commission to evaluate the Regulation, known as [call for evidence for an evaluation](https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/14416-Geo-blocking-Regulation-evaluation_en). This is the extended version of the statement that MIDAS submitted during the feedback phase that ended on 11 March 2025.
