The State Treaty has not been fulfilled
"Austria is free": these legendary words were spoken by Foreign Minister Leopold Figl after he signed the State Treaty with the victorious powers of the Second World War in Vienna on 15 May 1955, which returned sovereignty to Austria. This was celebrated in the parliament in Vienna 70 years later to the day. The Austrian ethnic groups would also have liked to have been free and in full possession of their rights in 1955. But 70 years later, on the same day as the politicians were celebrating, Slovenes, Croats, Roma, Hungarians, Czechs and Slovaks demonstrated with a "minority strike" in front of the Federal Chancellery.
