What minority inclusion means: reflections from the UN Forum on Minority Issues

In November 2025, I attended the 18th session of the UN Forum on Minority Issues at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, where States, academic experts, civil society representatives, and members of minority communities gathered to discuss the contributions of minorities to diverse, resilient, and peaceful societies. This blog reflects on why the Forum matters, what stood out across its three thematic sessions, and what these discussions reveal about the current state of minority rights. Beyond policy language, the Forum offered a space to reframe minorities not as problems to be managed, but as essential actors in shaping sustainable futures.
