Weekly Becomes Monthly: A New Era Begins for the Magazine of the German Minority in Poland

In order to adapt to changing trends and readers' expectations, the weekly magazine “Wochenblatt.pl” is transforming itself into the monthly magazine “Neues Wochenblatt.pl” and is focussing on further development on the Internet, according to the publisher, the Association of German Socio-Cultural Societies in Poland.

With a new look, a stronger presence on the Internet with daily news, analyses and interviews as well as the combination of traditional and digital media with new formats such as podcasts and radio programmes, the association wants to create space for dialogue and ‘make the digital media a place for encounters, the exchange of ideas and the cultivation of the identity of the German minority’, as media coordinator Natalia Jasik-Schulwitz is quoted in a press release. The chairman of the association, Rafał Bartek, emphasises: ‘For us as a German minority, it is particularly important to have our own independent media. It is a space in which we can speak with our voice and cultivate our traditions. At the same time, we are part of a broader dialogue with Polish society.’
