The crux of memory in the Western Balkans
What role does memory play in peacebuilding in the Western Balkans, and how important is it? This was one of the questions addressed on the last December 12th, at the EURAC Research Institute in Bolzano, Italy, during the event curated by the Fondazione Alexander Langer Stiftung entitled “*[Balcani occidentali: politica, memoria e costruzione attiva della pace](https://www.eurac.edu/it/institutes-centers/istituto-di-studi-federali-comparati/news-events/balcani-occidentali-politica-memoria-e-costruzione-attiva-della-pace)*” as part of the "Give Peace a Chance" project. While the first part of the event focused mainly on collective memory, during the second half women’s peace activism in the region was the main topic.[^1]
